Dry mouth is more than just a sign that you’re thirsty. Dry mouth signals that you don’t have enough saliva in your mouth. You might be thinking that you can grab a glass of water and rectify the inconvenience. However, that doesn’t address the issue. Saliva is an important part of your overall oral health. Did you know that it helps you digest food, flush food particles away from your teeth and actually helps prevent tooth decay?
Since saliva isn’t there helping you get rid of those food particles like it should be, it can easily cause bad breath. Think of saliva as a key to your overall oral health. Without it, tooth decay and gum disease are more likely to occur.
Think about it. If you’re mouth isn’t naturally cleansing itself, bacteria can build up in the mouth. This can cause significant disruptions to your oral health, teeth strength and gum health.
